CANSA: Striving for a Cancer Smart South Africa
The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is dedicated to fighting cancer to save lives.
We run a number of prevention programmes and patient care services in line with our mission, which is to substantially reduce the impact of cancer by promoting health in all communities within South Africa through advocacy and the sustainable facilitation of research, prevention, early detection and care.
In order to fund our services, CANSA relies on the goodwill of individual, government and corporate partners to support projects such as the CANSA Shavathon.
We all love CANSA Shavathon!
CANSA Shavathon is one of South Africa’s best-loved events in support of a worthy cause.
People shave or spray their hair to show solidarity with cancer survivors or to remember loved ones lost to the disease.
Shavathon also raises awareness and funds for the fight against cancer as all money generated goes to CANSA prevention programmes and patient care services .
CANSA also hosts an annual national CANSA Shavathon over 2 days for people to shave or spray their hair for a R50 donation at either workplaces, organisations or educational institutions on the first day (usually a Friday) or shopping centres on the second day (usually a Saturday).
If your school, work place or organization would like to take part in CANSA Shavathon 2011, or if you would like your shopping venue to participate, please contact CANSA now and challenge your competition to do so too!
